A Razão e a Emoção

Estavam lá no céu, todas as almas, umas eram somente razão, outras somente emoção, duas filas distintas.

Hoje, eu sou a razão, você a emoção, eu te dou o chão e você me leva à lua.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is that special day that makes lovers all across the globe feel the fragrance of love and passion more intensely. It is this time of the year that the spirit of romance is at its fullest swing and the flame of love tends to illuminate the world with lovely colors, spread the warmth in the air all around. Not much is exactly known about the history and origin of the Valentine's Day, although there are different believes and various schools of thoughts . There were actually several interpretation regarding the history and origin of Valentine's Day.

While according to some the Valentine's Day celebration calls for the pagan tradition during the third century, the Europeans, on the other hand, believed that birds began to choose their mates on February 14th. It was by 1477 that the English associated lovers with the feast of Valentine with the belief that on this day "every bird chooses him a mate." The practice started off with men and women writing love notes to their Valentines on February 14th. But one thing that is very interesting about the origin of valentine's Day , is that many early Christian martyrs were named Valentine and it was not until 1969, that the eleventh Valentine's Day celebration was first recognised by the Catholic Church in the formal way and the Valentines honored on February 14th were the Valentine of Rome and Valentine of Terni. Although the Valentine of Rome (Valentinus presb. m. Romae) and the Valentine of Terni (Valentinus ep. Interamnensis m. Romae) had separate entries in the ancient mythology, yet many scholars believed that they were the same persons.

Valentine of Rome (Valentinus presb. m. Romae), who was a roman priest who suffered martyrdom about AD 269 and was buried on the Via Flaminia.

Valentine of Terni(Valentinus ep. Interamnensis m. Romae), who was a bishop of Interamna about AD 197. He was killed during the persecution of Emperor Aurelian and was also buried on the Via Flaminia.

Interestingly, the Catholic Encyclopedia has spoken of another saint named Vallentine, who was martyred in Africa along with his companions. His name had also been attached to this particular date - February 14th, although no more information could be retrieved from any other sources.

One of the different theories that also has gained substantial importance about the history and origin of Valentine's Day celebrations is that the Romans used to have a custom where young boys drew the names of the girls in honor of Februata Juno - the Goddess of sex and fertility. As a matter of fact, the romans used to celebrate this custom during the middle of February. Pastors later baptised this holiday, by substituting the names of saints in order to suppress the practice. One of those saints was Saint Valentine. Other romance tradition are attached to with the feast of Valentine, including the practice of pinning the bay leaves to the pillow on the Valentine's eve with a belief that you may dream of your future soul mate that night.

Ideal Love

Being in love is merely a physical state of exaltation; loving is the merging of the spirit which at its white heat has glorified the physical instinct for re-creating into a godlike beatitude of earth. Loving throbs with delight in the flesh; it thrills the spirit with reverence; it glorifies into beauty commonplace things; it draws nearer in sickness and sorrow, and is not the sport of change. When a woman loves truly she has the passion of the mistress, the selfless tenderness of the mother, the dignity and devotion of the wife. She is all fire and snow, all wile and frankness, all passion and reserve; she is authoritative and obedient ~ Queen and Child.

And a man ceases to be a brute, and becomes a God!

Love is beautiful and terrible ~ and vital. It gilds dark places, and turns stones into jewels. It is tender enough to be of the Angels, and warm enough to be of the Sun. Love is tangible. It means to be close ~ close ~ to be clasped ~ to be touching ~ to be One!

Of all the emotions which Human beings feel, love is the most divine.

It is the vital spark which makes Life, it is the expression of the soul. The lowest creatures, the worst characters, are raised when they love ~ because for the time it holds them under its sway they cease to be utterly selfish. Love is Nature's glorious manifestation of the unconscious desire to re-create love's likeness. It invests the mere animal instinct for species-preservation with all the beauties of the imagination. It is an essence beyond our sight, or hearing, or touch, which uplifts us.
